Recognized internationally as one of the finest collections in the world, the Center holds more than 90,000 works by 2,000 photographers. Our main strength is 20th century North American artists. We also hold significant collections of 19th and 20th century photography from around the world.

Over 200 archival collections including materials from modern photographers, galleries, institutions, writers, and critics to help scholars continue to study photography’s rich heritage. You will find negatives, work prints, contact sheets, albums, scrapbooks, correspondence, writings, audiovisual materials and memorabilia.

Irreplaceable and hard-to-find resources about photography, including rare books, journals, exhibition catalogs, auction catalogs and ephemera. These document the history and study of photography worldwide.

The long-term preservation of its extraordinary collection of photographic and archival materials is fundamental to the Center’s mission. The responsibility of preserving the collection for future generations is carefully balanced with the need to share it with current generations.

The Digital Imaging Department provides all the imaging needs for the Center for Creative Photography, digitizing the fine print collection as well as selected archive materials to support the preservation and accessibility of the CCP's world-class collection.

Started in 1975, this audio/video collection provides a unique way to study the history and views about the evolution of modern photography. Includes taped interviews, lectures and video with noted figures in photography.
